Funding the Trip
Once the class began, I realized that I would have to raise the funds needed for the trip in around two months, since tickets and plans had to be made early. I quickly got to work, networking with all of my resources and trying to find out which method was the best for raising money. In the end, I decided to use three different methods to raise the money. I first made a GoFundMe and shared it on my social media accounts to get the word to as many people as possible. To try and lessen the amount of money needed for the trip, I also applied for and received a travel grant through Rose-Hulman Global Programs. Finally, I organized and ran a bake sale in the Mussallem Union of Rose-Hulman to try and raise even more money. I was able to raise around $3500 of the $4000 dollars, and used the money left over from my summer internship to cover the rest of the cost. Below you can see some examples of how I raised the money along with the essay that I sent in to apply for my grant.
